08/09/2011 Metal scoop with hitch, chain and wooden handle. Bent metal triangular shaped scoop that is wider at the back than at the opening. Opening edge is slightly rounded. Two brackets on each side at back.In the center of the handle is a flat ring that a link chain is connected. The chain is made of 10 links and end with a large hook at the opposite end; distance from the flat ring to the end of the hook is 19″. . Dimensions of the handle are 24.25″ long x 2.5″ tall.

Has 4 iron wheels, 2 in front (4″wide, 27 1/2″dia), 2 in back (5″wide, 44″dia.) with angle iron lugs for better traction. Has wooden wagon box of 1″x8″ tongue and groove lumber. front of wagon box slopes towards bed box, box sloped towards back end. remnants of footboard on brackets above wagon hounds. Main framework of angle iron, painted green. The wagon was horse powered, and has a rear axle driven comb auger and screw auger at open end of wagon box. All gears, gear fenders, drive chains, engage/disengage handles, are on driver’s right hand side.

Ls1987.10.0001Spreader, Manure: A manure spreader with large iron wheels and wooden sideboards. The front wheels are smaller than the back, which has angle iron cleats riveted to the tire. The spreader mechanisms are chain-driven and powered by the rear axle. The wagon bed has evidence of green and yellow paints. The driver’s box is missing; the tongue is intact. CPRD 5/21/20151994.46.0002Mill, Fanning: Plywood “box” has red-painted frame of four vertical studs on two skids. Two studs connect to horizontal 2x2s with handgrip on end. Box flares into horizontal semicylinder with sheet metal sides between them. Each side has sliding panel in groove in handle. Flywheel, belt, and rod connected to spring on one side. Rod through curved bracket on the other side. Top of box if concave with trapezoids and triangles angling to slot in bottom with vertical zigzag of rod down length. Slat with hole in each end under one side. Side opposite cylinder is open for sorting screens on strips of wood. Red-painted boards above and below. Other two sides have curvilinear cut so smaller piece can hold screens withing larger pieces. A sheet metal trough is below the semi-cylinder and is wired to it. “Size 30” stenciled in black on frame. Manufacturer’s decal on semi-cylinder. See accompanying letter for details of use.
