Celebrate old time fun and historic activities at Potato Day, sponsored by the Greeley Museums Heritage Foundation, on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Centennial Village Museum, 1475 A St.

A baked potato with a choice of toppings is included with admission. Food from local vendors will also be available for separate purchase.

Visitors can explore the many living history activities during the event including blacksmithing, printing, tortilla making, adobe brick making, cattle branding and hatchet throwing. In addition, the event features entertainment by the Rodarte dancers, swing dancers and music under the gazebo. Kids can participate in historical games and activities at the Kids Korner Potato Patch and visit the museums resident snake collection at Rattlesnake Kates House.

For the military history buff, mingle with buffalo soldiers and catch their show or visit the WWII encampment vehicles and re-enactors.

In conjunction with Potato Day, the public is invited to attend the dedication of the newest section of the Go West Art Fence at 10 a.m. Local artist Lisa Cameron Russell has painted images on several fence panels depicting this regions unique water heritage. The newest section of the fence was made possible by a grant from the Poudre Heritage Alliance for the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area.

Proceeds from Potato Day are used by the Greeley Museums Heritage Foundation in support of the City of Greeley History Museums. Admission to Potato Day is $6, $4 for children 3 to 11, and children under 2 are free.
