FOR RELEASE: On Friday, October 7, at 6 p.m., the Greeley History Museum, 714 8th St., will host “Weld on the Web,” as part of the museum’s First Friday Presentation Series.
In 2013, City of Greeley Museums and the High Plains Library District received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Service to digitize and make accessible thousands of Weld County photographs of various people, places, and events from 1870 through 1950.
The grant involved image scanning, cataloging, and the creation of a publicly accessible online database, making this a major collaborative effort between the library and the museum.
Katie Ross, assistant curator of collections, and Sarah Saxe, curator of collections, will present an introduction to using this new public resource. Attendees will learn how to navigate the database and explore ways this tool is helpful for various projects and queries.
Admission to the First Friday Presentation is free.
