It was an interesting day as I joined the Exhibits Team to review the water exhibit in the Main Gallery at the Greeley History Museum. We engaged a visiting family from Louisiana to get their feedback on our ideas for revisions. It turned out that they had come to Greeley specifically to see our Rattlesnake Kate exhibit because the fathers aunt had corresponded with Kate in the 1960’s. His aunt even came to Colorado to visit Kate, and they remained lifelong pen pals. For the rest of her life the aunt relayed stories to her family of her holiday with Kate, and so they came to see Kate’s rattlesnake skin dress and learn more about our history. We then guided our new friends to the Hazel E. Johnson Archives downstairs so the father could tell about his aunt to our archivists. Every day here is a surprise.
