Support the effort to preserve local history and consider joining the Greeley Museums Heritage Foundation (GMHF). GMHF started its fall membership drive this week and aims to provide funding and volunteer support for the Greeley History Museums.

According to GMHF President Odie Roberts, We work with our local museums to further their mission. If we can expand our membership, we can do more to further our mission and better preserve our local history.

For example, earlier this year the foundation helped provide funding for the acquisition of hundreds of important historical letters written by prospective Union Colony colonists for preservation.

There are several benefits to becoming a GMHF member including free admission to the Greeley History Museums, a 10% discount on archive services and purchases over $5 in Greeley History Museums stores, invitations to various member-only events and previews, and a membership into Time Travelers, a nationwide network of museums. Membership levels and commitment vary and can range from $14 to $250 and above.

In addition, every membership purchased on or before Potato Day receives free admission to the event as part of their new member incentive. The Potato Day event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Centennial Village Museum, 1475 A St., and is one of the many events sponsored by the foundation throughout the year.
